The internet is literally littered with listicles about the best products you can buy for any particular product category. Beach tents are no different. Every major magazine, newspaper and blog that’s even vaguely interested in beach tents or outdoor activities writes… or more likely makes lazy minor updates to last year’s listicle. I mean, it’s 2023, people! We’re all supposed to be woke about the environment now ?

I’ve been pondering why eco-friendly beach tents don’t get more exposure on these types of content considering other important considerations like price, size, child-friendliness, portability, sun protection quality, and durability certainly do.

So… possibly reasons why:

It is perceived that sustainable beach tents are often more expensive than traditional tents. This is because they are made from sustainable materials, such as recycled plastic or organic cotton, which can be more expensive to produce. However a cheap plastic beach tent invariably only lasts a few trips to the beach before it makes its way into the trash. Going that route you’re not saving money or saving the planet.

Eco-friendly tents are not always as widely available as traditional tents. This is because they are a newer product, and it takes time for them to become more mainstream. I think this is possible but… we have this thing called the internet. Search for eco-friendly beach tents and you’ll be surprised at your options.

Some people may not believe that earth-friendly tents are as durable or functional as traditional tents. This is a misconception, as there are many high-quality eco-friendly tents on the market.
Eco-friendly beach tent brands do a poor job of PR and many content writers are lazy. Finding statistics and real data to back eco-friendly claims is challenging. There aren’t a lot of reports or comparisons of the topic to research either.

However, it is important to note that all of these reasons are becoming less and less valid as eco-friendly tents become more affordable, more widely available, and more well-known. As more and more people become aware of the environmental impact of their choices, they are looking for more eco-friendly options, and eco-friendly tents are becoming a more popular choice.
In addition, there are a number of benefits to choosing an eco-friendly tent that authors clearly don’t realize. Eco-friendly tents are made from sustainable materials, which means that they are not harmful to the… beach! The very natural place you and generations to come want to be able to enjoy.

They are also often made from recycled materials, which helps to reduce overall waste. Additionally, eco-friendly tents are often more durable than traditional tents, which means that they will last longer and require less maintenance. The specially fabricated ReCanvas that Blacks Beach Originals uses to make The Crescent eco-friendly beach tent is designed to be long-lasting and much more durable than your typical beach tent.

All of that being said… I do admit that Blacks Beach Originals at this stage in our company development is weak at PR, and I do suspect many listicle content writers are lazy. I also know not many people are thinking of sustainability as a primary concern when searching for beach tents or outdoor gear. So as usual the problems with our environment land squarely to blame on all of our shoulders. We’ve all got to do better.
